CPI Session – Que devient la photographie? Quelle pratique aujourd’hui?

Pour cette rencontre du mardi 31 janvier 2012 à 12h30, Olivier Delhoume propose de faire le point sur ce que représente la photographie aujourd’hui.
Quelle valeur, quels modes opératoires et techniques ?
Que devient la photographie ?
Ce sera l’occasion de réfléchir et d’échanger sur les raisons de pratiquer la photographie aujourd’hui, de se pencher sur son histoire et ses évolutions et perspectives.
- Chimie, optique, lumière – sciences et inventions
le besoin de créer des images au XIXème siècle
- Les usages de la photographie jusqu’au 21ème siècle
photo vernaculaire, technique, artistique, documentaire, de reportage, photo plasticienne, photo familiale
- 21ème siècle
nouveaux enjeux, nouvelles pratiques et nouveaux usages photographiques (le portable, l’internet, le téléphone,….), et la valeur du patrimoine et de la création artistique photographique (conservation, ventes, enchères, internet…)
Titulaire d’un Brevet de photographie Olivier Delhoume fut reporter pour la presse écrite et la télévision, présenta de nombreuses expositions en Europe et aux Etats-Unis. Il a publié neuf livres dont « Mises au Point, Paroles de photographes » et plusieurs autres sur le Japon. Il présente des émissions de télévision et écrit régulièrement dans le magazine Art Passions.

Our photo book “The Photo Club International and its Members in 2011″ was published not long ago and many of you have ordered it for the holidays. We would like to thank again everyone who participated in this project for their great photos. SOCIAL DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY: A Personal Account

Beyond his day-to-day job as a communications officer in the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace, Antoine Tardy is a member of ‘Photographers for Hope’ (http://photographersforhope.org/), an international team of photographers who have been documenting the lives of the poor and disenfranchised, and the work of NGOs to improve their conditions.

Drawing from his personal experience (including a recent trip to Bangladesh with the ‘Photographers for Hope’ team on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the independence of the country), Antoine will engage with the CPI in a discussion about ways to approach social documentary photography and how photographs can make a difference.

This session will take place on Tuesday 17 January 2012 from 12:30-13:30  in Room S4 – S building between doors 2 and 4.

CPI Session – Photo and Poetry

The next session of the CPI will take place on Tuesday, 29 November at 12:30 in Room S1 (Ground floor, between doors 2 and 4).

Luca Solari is a poetic photographer who is interested in black and white photography as well as in colour. His photographs highlight things that we pass everyday without noticing them. Luca brings inanimate objects to life with his camera.

CPI Session – The Secrets of Black & White

This CPI session will take place on Tuesday, 15 November 2011 Room SI at 6pm.

 

Ernesto Castro will animate this session focusing on black and white pictures, playing with light effects and showing how to create contrasted images with black background.
He will demonstrate how to better convert color photographs into black & white and how to use layers and light effects. He will also explain in detail the various steps required to go from the original image to the finished result.

CPI Session – Nature photographs

La prochaine session du CPI aura lieu le mardi 1 novembre 2011 au Palais des Nations, salle IV (porte 6, 3ème étage, face à l’entrée latérale du bar des Délégués), de 12:30 à 13:45.
Cette session sera présentée par Sergio da Silva qui illustrera à travers plusieurs exemples, les pièges à éviter, les astuces à utiliser, l’équipement approprié, les conditions préférentielles et le traitement à effectuer après la prise de vue.

The next session of the CPI will take place on Tuesday, 1 November from 12:30 to 13:45 at the Palais des Nations, Room IV (door 6, 3rd floor, at the end of the corridor off the Delegates’ Lounge).
This session will be presented by Sergio da Silva. Using examples, Sergio will talk about the mistakes to avoid in nature photography; tips and tricks, the appropriate equipment and the best conditions to get good pictures, and how you can improve them afterwards.
